Discovering Pitti Palace and Boboli gardens
The Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens are among Florence’s most celebrated landmarks. The Pitti Palace, once home to Florence’s reigning families, houses five extraordinary museums: the Treasury of the Grand Dukes and Museum of Russian Icons (with the Palatine Chapel), the Palatine Gallery, the Imperial and Royal Apartment, the Gallery of Modern Art, the Museum of Costume and Fashion. The Boboli Gardens rise right behind the palace and cover some 45,000 square meters (111 acres). This park is famous because it is one of the first and most significant examples of what is called the “Italian Garden”.
