Piazzale Michelangelo is a must-see in Florence: this square, also known as Piazzale Michelangiolo, offers a breathtaking view of the city and is located in Oltrarno. What is Piazzale Michelangelo?

Piazzale Michelangelo is a very famous square that offers a stunning panoramic view of the city. From here you can see Palazzo Vecchio, the Duomo, the river Arno and much more.

How to get to Piazzale Michelangelo?

You can reach Piazzale Michelangelo in many ways. You can walk through the city center and reach Piazzale Michelangelo in about half an hour; however, if you don’t feel like walking, you can always catch a bus (number 12 or 13) or drive up there. There is a cheap parking lot right in front of the Piazzale and another one along the street that takes you up to the Piazzale.

Where to eat near Piazzale Michelangelo?

Piazzale Michelangelo’s area is quite expensive and there are plenty of “tourist traps”. My personal advice is to buy something in the city center (a sandwich or a delicious schiacciata), bring a towel and have a relaxed picnic inside the Giardino delle Rose (Rose Garden). This amazing – and access-free – little park has a wonderful view of the city and during the rose flowering period is really romantic. However, if you prefer a more classy experience, I can recommend the restaurant Terrazze Michelangelo.
